How ironic, Mayor Bollas wants to save the city money by making Mrs. Whitwer's job part-time. That's funny, I think me and some other citizens tried to do that with his job. Where is the “Keep New Franklin Strong” Committee on this one?
Mrs. Whitwer does not meet the charter’s qualifications, so mayor do your job, and do what the charter calls for! You complained and threw a fit about the your job (the mayor) going to become part-time and you said the people voted for the charter so why change it now? So the difference in these changes are because you proposed them, and you know better then I or maybe its just because it benefits you? Come on “Keep New Franklin Strong” get to work on this, or do you only keep New Franklin strong when it benefits the people who pay to support the group.
Maybe I've got it all wrong; then again maybe not. Let's face some reality, elected officials. The economy is down and it's not coming back for a while. You better start looking at where you can start cutting back or you will soon run yourself out of money. And when you do, don't come looking to us for it because we also don't have any more to give. New Franklin (Manchester district) is already the 10th highest taxed community in Summit County out of 83 for total tax mileage. My source is the Summit County Auditor tax year 2009 for collection year 2010, so it's current. Police and fire should be the last to get cuts, as they provide daily services to the community.
Mayor, council, and other city employees are the ones who should go first. We do not want any levies, or .5 percent income taxes (as this only puts more burden on the people who already pay taxes).
Manchester School District this also means you, no levies or school building projects, not now; the time is just not right.
