A W. Turkeyfoot Lake Road man, 26, was charged with domestic violence April 25 after he allegedly threw a toy water pail at his girlfriend, then shoved her and slapped her across the face. He was arrested and taken to Barberton Municipal Court, where he was released on a signature bond.
Someone broke the lock off the door of an attached garage on N. 4th Street and took a four-wheeler valued at $7,000. Police said they found the lock and a black bungee cord at the scene.
Police were called to assist EMS at a home on W. Caston Road after a man there was reported not breathing. Paramedics revived the man soon after officers arrived on the scene. Police said a hypodermic syringe used to administer Oxycodone was found in the man’s pants pocket. The 24-year-old was charged with possessing drug abuse instruments.
A 41-year-old Hickory Street man was charged with drunken driving and failure to comply with a police order. Police said an officer on patrol on Hickory Street heard a collision and shortly after spotted the man’s car and noticed damage to his front-end. The officer tried to get the suspect to pull over, but he continued driving, the report said. After a short pursuit, he was apprehended and placed under arrest.
Police responded to a call of a man standing next to a truck with an open passenger door at a produce stand on W. Turkeyfoot Lake Road. According to the report, the man was seen taking tools from inside the vehicle and scattering them on the ground. When he realized he was being watched, he took off on foot. Police checked the area but could not find the suspect. None of the tools were missing and no damage was reported to the truck. However, 40 tomatoes valued at about $30 were taken from the stand.
A 48-year-old Kent man was arrested for drunken driving after he was pulled over for speeding on State Street.
A Norton woman told police that her estranged husband started yelling at her during an argument at a location on W. Turkeyfoot Lake Road. She stated he hit her car several times on the hood, then pulled the spark plugs out of the car so it wouldn’t start. When questioned about the incident, the man admitted hitting the hood and removing the spark plugs, but said he owned the vehicle. Both parties were advised that since there were no threats of violence, no charges would be filed.
