There is a party going on and everyone is invited. Springfield Township and the Village of Lakemore have teamed up to co-sponsor Rock the Docks.
The festivities begin at Springfield Lake on July 18 and conclude July 20. You cannot not beat the price. It’s free. Free entertainment. Free activities. Visitors can buy or bring their own food, so why not dine at the lake? The list of food vendors is long and includes many favorites.
The Springfield Lakemore Festival Committee has been working hard to bring you a fun, family weekend, packed with family friendly activities. This is the first annual Rock the Docks Festival and Regatta and the first time in more than a decade that the boats have been on the lake.
There’s more than 70 booths, including crafts and business vendors, bands and musical entertainment.
The hours for the festival will be Friday, 4-10 p.m. Saturday, the 5K run begins at 8 a.m. The festivities open at 10 a.m. and run all day until 10 p.m. with fireworks over the lake immediately following. This will be the first time ever that fireworks have lit up the skies over Springfield Lake. Sunday begins with a lakeside church service with Pastor Jeff Gindlesberger from the Lakemore United Methodist Church and activities begin at 10 a.m. concluding the weekend at 8 p.m.
Racers from across the country will compete in the boat regatta. Warm-ups are on Friday evening and the competition takes to the lake on Saturday at 10 a.m. This is an American Power Boat Association sanctioned event and is brought to you by the Three Rivers Outboard Racing Association www.trora.com.
Besides the Regatta there will be musical entertainment at both event locations along with a car cruise-in, wing eating contest, Home Depot children’s workshop, bubble blowing contest, the StarBoyz motorcycles and $1 skate at the Springfield Lake Roller Rink to name a few.
If you think this is not enough to keep your family busy, don’t worry. There are many more things going on. This is a fun-packed weekend. Don’t miss out on the fun and if you can, offer a couple of hours of your time, volunteers are still needed to help make this the best ever Springfield Lakemore Community Days.
Free event parking is at Tri-County Plaza (1500 Canton Road) and Springfield High School (2966 Sanitarium Road). There’s free shuttle rides to both sides of the lake and back and forth between the north and the south shores.
