KEY ACTION

A special council meeting was held to approve several orders of business before the end of the year. Council members approved for another year the police contract with Springfield Township to continue providing police services to the village. The contract continues to save the village the cost of having its own department.

OTHER ACTION

• Approved an ordinance to make appropriations for the village’s current expenses and other expenditures in 2013. The appropriations are set aside for particular funds and expenses for the village.

• Approved holiday pay for scheduled personnel of the fire department to work New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas Day. The rate of pay will be one and a half times their set rate of pay. The pay is to encourage personnel to work on holidays.

Springfield Schools have agreed to pay a portion of the costs to employ a police officer at the high school.

Council meetings are held the first and third Mondays of each month. When Monday holidays occur, the meeting is moved to the next day. Meetings are at 7 p.m. in the Municipal Building, 1400 Main St. The next meeting is Jan. 28.
