Superintendent William Stauffer recently told the State Commission that the district is hopeful the elimination of pay to participate will reduce the amount of kids leaving the district.
“Preliminary test scores are looking positive, possibly better than last year. The teachers and the students did very well,” he said.
Business Manager Dan Laskos meet with the Ohio Department of Education regarding transportation and it looks like ridership numbers are up.
Laura Brown from the auditor’s officer will verify the numbers of the five-year plan.
Treasurer Don Gambal said, “Things are currently on course and as we expected.”
The commission also approved the contract agreement with Summa Health Systems for athletic trainer services.
“We did a comparison with another local hospital and the services were not comparable and the fees were more reasonable,” stated Stauffer. He added Summa has not raised the price in the last few years and that the district has been very satisfied with the services.
Resignations of staff members were accepted along with the hiring or reemployment of those from the reduction in force list. There were no new positions added.
The commission approved the updates of the five-year forecast.
The next Springfield Board of Education meeting is set for July 15, 6 p.m., in the board office. The next commission meeting will be held on July 24 at 2 p.m. in the board office.
