A woman on Hidden Lakes Blvd. reported that someone stole 22 gallons of gasoline from her husband’s two vehicles parked in the driveway. Value of the gas was about $86.
A 27-year-old Fourth Street man was arrested for driving under the influence after an officer pulled him over for a traffic violation on Sanitarium Road. He was also found driving with a suspended license.
Police responded to a call June 17 of someone setting off fireworks at the Point. Officers questioned a 35-year-old male suspect of Akron. A computer check showed he had a warrant for theft in Portage County. He was turned over to sheriff’s deputies in that county.
A Ghent Court woman reported June 18 that someone stole two solar-powered garden lights from her yard. She also said her phone junction box was broken into but no damage was found.
A restaurant owner on Canton Road told police he hired a new employee on June 14. She started the next day but walked off after working only a few hours. He then conducted an audit and found $60 missing from a money basket.
An officer on patrol spotted a teenage boy hitchhiking near a trucking company on E. Waterloo Road. As he pulled into the parking lot, the boy ran off and hid in some bushes. The officer waited about ten minutes for the teen to come out from hiding. He told the officer he hid because he didn’t want to be charged with a curfew violation. The officer checked him for weapons and found a bag of marijuana on him. The teen was charged with possession of drugs and released to his father.
