City of Green (Sheriff’s Patrol)
Deputies investigated burglaries reported at two homes under construction Dec. 3 and Dec. 4. Suspects kicked in the front door of a home on East Park Drive and stole the refrigerator and electric range. Total loss in damage and property was over $5,000. In the second incident at a home on Fifth Avenue, suspects took ceiling fans, light fixtures, tools and a water heater from the garage.

A 31-year-old E. Comet Road woman was charged with domestic violence Dec. 6 after she was accused of threatening to kill her stepfather during an argument. She was booked into the Summit County Jail.

On Dec. 5, a Canton man reported someone broke out the driver’s window on his truck while he was parked outside a Parfoure Blvd. home.

A 22-year-old Moore Road man was charged Dec. 2 with menacing and criminal damaging. An Akron man told deputies the suspect “brake tested” him several times as the two were pulling into an Arlington Ridge parking lot. When the man yelled out to the suspect that he had his license plate number and was calling police, the suspect got out and kicked the side of the man’s car, causing noticeable damage. Deputies later matched the suspect’s shoe print on the car.

Deputies were investigating a report filed by an Akron man Dec. 2 who stated someone used his personal information to open a cable account at a South Arlington Road home.

On Nov. 29, an Akron woman told deputies she left her purse in the back seat of her SUV before going inside a South Arlington Road restaurant to eat. When she came out, she found a rear window smashed out and her purse gone. The purse contained credit cards and $90.

Coventry Township (Sheriff’s Patrol)
A 21-year-old E. Vista Avenue man was charged with theft Dec. 5 after he allegedly stole a sandwich and two snack items from a W. Waterloo Road convenience store. Total value of the food was about $5.

Deputies responded to a domestic complaint at a Dollar Drive home Dec. 4. A woman said her boyfriend threw her down the steps outside their home after getting upset over a comment made earlier at a bar. The woman had a red mark below her left eye but refused medical treatment. Deputies charged the woman’s 50-year-old boyfriend with domestic violence and transported him to the Summit County Jail.

Deputies stopped a vehicle for suspicious activity on Upham Drive Dec. 4. A male passenger said he had no identification, and when an officer asked him if he had anything illegal on him, the man pulled out a bag of marijuana. The suspect, identified as a 19-year-old of Dorwill Drive, was charged with possession of drugs and released with a summons.

On the same evening, deputies stopped a car on Manchester Road and discovered a 31-year-old Cuyahoga Falls man had an active warrant for trafficking in drugs. The man was a passenger in the vehicle. Prior to his arrest on the warrant, deputies found 60.2 grams of marijuana on the man and charged him with possession of drugs.

A Lake Vista Avenue man said someone stole his credit card number after he ordered flowers over the Internet and used it to make nine purchases totaling $1,153.66. All the fraudulent transactions were made online, the report said.

Deputies were investigating burglaries reported by two residents at an Upham Drive apartment complex Dec. 3 in which the suspects left behind electronic equipment. One of the residents said someone stole a bracelet and two pairs of earrings and then left a Microsoft receiver in her front room. In the other incident, a desktop computer, a camcorder and clothing were taken and a wireless adapter was found left in the garage.

City of New Franklin
On Dec. 4, police were called to a Manchester Road address to investigate a possible prowler. While searching the area, an officer found a Mountain bike in the front yard. The bike was taken back to the station and entered into the property room. No prowler was found.

A State Park Drive woman, 49, was cited for violating an animal control ordinance Dec.1 after her two Labrador retrievers were found in a neighbor’s trash. Another neighbor told police she saw the dogs in her driveway and in the road at about the same time.

On Nov. 30, a Dalton woman reported her credit card was stolen and used it to make a $58 purchase. She believed the card plus several checks were taken from her purse while she was visiting friends at a W. Nimisila Road home. Following an investigation, police arrested a 26-year-old man at the home, charging him with theft.

Also on Nov. 30, a Johns Road woman reported someone used her debit card number to charge purchases over the Internet totaling $400. Police advised the woman that her bank’s fraud department would be handling the matter.

Someone broke into a Lyman Drive home through a basement window Nov. 28 and stole the copper piping.

Springfield Township
On Dec. 1, a Kent woman reported her wallet was stolen while she at a South Arlington Road discount store. According to reports, an officer reviewed surveillance video of the area where the woman said she was shopping and witnessed a man taking a wallet out of a woman’s purse in a shopping cart. Shortly after, the officer located the suspect inside the store and questioned him about the matter. The man repeatedly denied stealing the wallet, the report said, but then finally admitted it and said he threw the wallet in the trash. The wallet was retrieved and returned to the woman, who did not wish to pursue charges after finding nothing missing. Police charged the 21-year-old suspect with obstructing official business for lying to the officer.

At the same store, police arrested two females, ages 17 and 18, after they were accused of placing $74 worth of merchandise in a baby stroller and leaving without paying. The 18-year-old had a 1-year-old child with her and was additionally charged with child endangering. The 17-year-old was additionally charged with criminal trespass. Police said she was caught shoplifting at the store on a previous occasion and warned not to return.

Also on Dec. 1, a Proctor Road man reported finding a 1993 Jeep Cherokee abandoned on his property. Police later determined the vehicle was reported stolen in Tallmadge. On the same day, police recovered another stolen Jeep found abandoned in a wooded area off Pickle Road.

A 29-year-old Farmdale Road man was charged Nov. 30 with disorderly conduct by intoxication. Police said they found him passed out in his car in front of his house.

Two dirt bikes valued at $2,951 were reported stolen Nov. 29 from a garage on Pine Lake Road. The garage door was open at the time, the report said.

On the same day, a 20-year-old Akron woman was charged with theft and child endangering at a South Arlington Road discount store. According to the report, she was observed putting a lower price tag on an item, scanning the item at a self-checkout, and then leaving. Police said she had a 1-year-old child with her at the time.

Police were called to a Mobile Lane residence Nov. 29 after a woman reported she passed out after using heroin. While paramedics were examining the woman she admitted that she used more heroin than usual that day. She was taken to an area hospital. Police recovered a syringe and two spoons at the scene.  Charges were pending.

Lakemore Village
On Dec. 1, an employee at a Canton Road thrift store reported someone used a counterfeit $10 bill to pay for merchandise.

Police responded to a call of a possible drug overdose at a Main Street home Nov. 30. A woman reported she found her boyfriend passed out in the bathtub after he took an unknown drug. An officer called paramedics to have the man taken to an area hospital. While conducting an investigation at the scene, the officer reported finding a plastic bag with suspected marijuana, a pipe with residue and a medicine bottle containing seeds. The woman admitted the items were hers. Charges were pending at the time of the report.

Also on Nov. 30, an employee at a Canton Road department store told police a man grabbed a wool coat off a rack and ran out the back door with it. The coat was valued at $100.

Uniontown Police
Suspects broke into an Estate Street home Dec. 7 and stole a dishwasher valued at $280. Damage to the front door and a cabinet was estimated at $150.

A Church Street boy, 13, was charged with criminal damaging Dec. 6 after police said he broke a curio cabinet during an argument with his mother.

On Dec. 2, a Tumbleweed Street resident reported someone entered his unlocked pickup truck and took $19 in currency and change, four Mickey Mantle baseball cards and a pair of sunglasses.

A Maple Street boy, 13, of Hartville, was charged Nov. 25 with delivery of dangerous drugs. According to the report, he gave pills to two classmates at school that police later identified as the prescription drug Tramadol.

Hartville Village
A 32-year-old S. Prospect Avenue woman was cited for failure to yield and driving with an expired license. Police said she was responsible for a two-car collision at the intersection of Market Avenue and Maple Street Dec. 4. A computer check showed her license expired in 2006.

On Dec. 1, an employee at a Maple Street gas station reported a driver left without paying for $45 worth of gas. A license plate number was traced to a 23-year-old Alliance man, who police later learned was under numerous suspensions for not paying for gas.

On the same day, a North Canton woman filed a report stating that sometime between Nov. 27 and Nov. 29, someone stole a $1,300 cashier’s check from her purse. She told police the check had not been cashed as of that time.
