The board of education held a special meeting Dec. 18 to approve hire Chris Adams as interim treasurer to replace Donald Gambal.

Adams will be paid $50 per hour on an  as-needed-basis until a permanent replacement can be hired.

Adams stated he looks forward to working with Springfield.

The board thanked Gambal for his years of service and said it has been a pleasure working with him.

Gambal said he will miss everyone. He was commended by State Auditor Mary Taylor for his work. Wieland thanked him for his dedication and loyalty.

Adams has been the treasurer at Mogadore Schools since 2003. He worked at Goodyear for 24 years and was a Lead Financial Analyst.

A resident of Mogadore, Adams said he almost lives in Springfield as the township line goes through his backyard. He and his wife, Joyce, have four sons.
He has a family history in Mogadore Schools.

“My father had a lot to do with me going into this profession,” said Adams.

His father, Bill Adams was a principal at Mogadore from 1962 to 1985.

“Springfield has a lot of exciting things coming up,” said Adams. “They should be very proud of their excellent rating. I think that is the main thing that people in Springfield need to be proud of. Even in these conditions, which are not ideal to educate children, they have an excellent rating.”

Adams has building experience because Mogador just built a new school. He hopes he will be able to bring something to the table to assist Springfield in the potential building of a seven through 12 building.

The State Commission also approved Adams as an interim treasurer at its Dec. 15 meeting.
