As she watches the ball roll down the 60-foot lane and eyeing the destruction of 10 pins, there is nothing more popular than seeing blood in the water and going for the kill.

And if you are Lake bowling senior Kim Collins, then you can bear witness to what you see.

The loving daughter of Candy and Matt Collins, the senior is having an aspiring senior season and is getting hot at the right time. Currently according to head girls coach Bob Fritz, she is entertaining offers to attend school and bowl collegiately at Notre Dame College and Ursuline College, both located in Cleveland.

She was coming off another pleasing performance of her prowess as she rolled a 187 and 169 for a total pinfall of 356 while boasting a healthy average of 178 in the Blue Streaks 2,056-1,663 victory over St. Thomas Aquinas at Park Centre Lanes.

Collins was not surprised to receive the offer for a bowling scholarship when her phone rang.

“I was coached by Jeff Robinson from Notre Dame College and he helped me so much in terms of what to expect in college and I am looking forward to that,” she said. “He happened to see me bowling and he was very interested in me.”

While undecided at the moment, she is currently heading in the direction of majoring in mathematics with a possible minor in business. But for now, she is continuing her senior campaign and assisting her team in making a strong push to the sectional tournament.

Last season, the Blue Streaks started off the season 0-5 before ending the season on a nine-match winning streak and qualified for the first ever district appearance in Lake girls bowling history by virtue of a fourth-place finish.

The same demeanor she used last year to be a key member is the same one devised to help out her underclassman teammates.

“I'm helping them out as much as I can because I want to get them also ready for next season when I will not be there,” Collins said.

The Lake senior credited her parents for involving her in the sport and encouraging her at times when things were against her. She has been involved in competition and various leagues for a full decade, going back to when she was an 8-year-old.

Currently, the Blue Streaks are going to have serious tests ahead in determining just how far the Blue Streaks can make a push before the sectional tournament.

“I hope we can get better and improve from match to match just in time to peak at sectionals and then the district tournament and hopefully advance to the state tournament,” Collins said.

As she watches the ball roll down the lane, Kim Collins senses blood in the water. And she can bear witness to what she sees.
