Q.  Family?
A. I have two girls and two boys, ages 30, 18, 15, 14.

Q. The best parenting advice you have received?
A. Not every bump and scrap is serious. Everyone falls down on occasion.  Evaluate every situation. Stand up, take care of it, brush it off, and move on.

Q. What is the best parenting advice you have given?
A.  All of that is yet to be seen. But something that comes to mind might be this, “Kid’s, I have breast cancer, I am going to fight this with everything I have in me. In your lives you have many things before you. I ask that you continue to do your very best. In all of your endeavors (sports, school). Not that you have to be the best, just be your best. If you do this, we will succeed together. We will be each other’s joy and strength. We must have a positive attitude.

Q. What one thing from you mom did you incorporate into your parenting philosophy?
A. Have a good first aid kit available for life’s little bumps and scrapes. Physical and emotional.

Q. What motivates you?
A. Every moment of every day! My children, my husband Mark, my friends, our wonderful community, the wonderful workings of our Lord, the opportunity to see yet another spring in Ohio!  It is good to be alive!

Q. What is your favorite movie?

A. The Sound of Music.

Q. If you could spend the day with anyone who would it be and why?
A. My brother Alan. He died unexpectedly over 24 years ago. It is said that losing a sibling is one of the toughest losses. Because they were right beside you through all of our own childhood memories. I would just sit and listen to him talk and give him a hug.
