Phoebe’s Nature Shop has anything a shopper could want that is for the birds, or nature-related, that is.
Specializing in wild bird products, the nature lover can find a wide variety of bird feeders and houses. Wild birds are the number two hobby, next to gardening according to store owner, Phoebe Troyer. Her love for wild birds motivated her to open a shop.
“I grew up with it,” Troyer said. “I was always feeding the birds, and it was something I enjoyed.”
The bird feed Phoebe’s Nature shop carries is always fresh. She said the store sells approximately 6,000 pounds of seed each week.
Troyer said she first started carrying only wild bird products, but expanded the store to carry anything to do with nature. Nature art, including fine and limited editions, hang for sale throughout the store. Wind chimes, weathervanes, books, compact discs and stationary are just some of the nature themed products Troyer carries.
There is a kids section with books, puppets and T-shirts.
Troyer’s store offers a large selection of large bird feeders and hummingbird feeders, but as a family run store one of her most unique items is the soap that her daughter, Ellie, hand makes. She said some of her other unique items include the Tilley Hats, that are popular among gardeners and art by a well-known artist Terry Redlin.
Something Troyer said she prides herself on is customer service. She said they know about all of the products in the store so they can answer questions from customers.
“We want to take care of our customers,” Troyer commented. “Our customers are number one.”
