Ries appointed to Hartville Council

 Village council approved the purchase of a 2007 police cruiser from Lake Township for $15,000. The council passed the purchase on first reading.

Cynthia Billings was appointed President Pro-Tem of council. Kelly Ries was appointed to fill the open council member seat. She will serve a four-year term. The personnel committee will include Jim Sullivan, Rich Currie and Cynthia Billings. The finance committee is Ron Beltz, Tom Hough and Cynthia Billings. 

Council member Tom Hough discussed amending the personnel handbook to include Martin Luther King Jr. Day as a legal holiday for the village. The council agreed and legislation will be presented at the next council meeting for a vote.

The remaining council committees will be announced at the next Hartville Council meeting Jan. 26.
