The Lake Local Schools Board of Education held the annual organizational meeting for 2010 to conduct necessary business by the board of education. State representative Todd Snitchler administered the oath of office to newly elected board member Derrick Bailey and re-elected board members Bill Jelen and Dave Poling. Current board member Bill Jelen was elected president and David VanderKaay was elected vice president of the board for 2010.
The board established that the regular board meetings will continue on the third Monday of the month at the Lake Middle School large group instruction room at 7:30 p.m. unless otherwise noted.
The board of education removed the vote regarding the phrase” belief in God” in the Lake Local Schools mission statement from the agenda. According to Casey Mackert, Lake public relations coordinator, the district is waiting to vote until all of their options are explored.
The administrative employment resolution as follows was adopted by the board of education: the administrative employment contracts of Bruce Brown, Donna Bruner, R. Michael Daulbaugh, Jeff Durbin, Dan Harold, John McAllister, Brian Reed and Kevin Tobin will expire on July 31. The administrative employment contracts of David Lloyd and Paula McGee will expire on June 30, 2010. The Board of Education will consider whether to re-employ the named administrators or non-renew their contracts no later than the last day of March.
The board accepted the Lake Local graduation date and time as Saturday, June 5, at 3 p.m. for the 2010 graduation to be held at the Canton Memorial Civic Center.
In other news the board adopted several school policies following a second reading.
The board approved the updated Use and Management Agreement for Lake Local School’s Family Fitness Center and Field House as presented effective
July 1.
A donation of $50 from Child & Adolescent Behavioral Health, 919 Second Street NE, Canton, was accepted by the board.
The board approved Paramount Photo be the official yearbook photographer for Lake High School for the 2010-2011, 2011-2012 and 2012-2013 school years.
It was announced that the Wall of Fame deadline is March 15.
