The skies over Akron will thunder once again with the return of a full fledged air show to Akron Fulton Airport on June 14 - 15.

"Wings Over Akron" will feature a mix of both warbirds and modern military aircraft along with various display booths, veteran exhibits and military personnel.

"We hope that this air show will bring out the aviation enthusiasts and anyone interested in aviation in general," said show chairman Nathan Spencer. "We are planning to have a nice selection of both old and modern aircraft for the public to view, along with veterans and current pilots who will relate their experiences flying the various aircraft."

The aircraft currently scheduled to appear include the famous Akron-built FG-1D "Corsair," the P-51 "Mustang," a B-24 "Liberator," a B-25 "Mitchell," a PBY "Catalina" that was based in Akron during the 1950s, a C-54 "Skymaster" that took part in the Berlin airlift in 1948 and a Russian Mig-17. Also featured will be several modern aircraft including a C-130 "Hercules" cargo plane, a Navy P-3 "Orion" anti-submarine patrol plane and possible two F-18 "Hornet" fighters. Other aircraft are also scheduled to appear, but due to factors beyond the control of the air show, cancellations may occur.

Tickets may be purchased on the Web site, at ACME, or at the gate. Prices are $7 for children (6-12) and $10 for adults if purchased in advance. At the gate, prices are $9 and $12. Children under six will be admitted free with an empty Coke can. Gates open at 9 a.m. and close at 5 p.m.

Information on the air show can be found at info@wingsoverakron.org or at www.wingsoverakron.org.
