The seventh annual Polar Bear Jump sponsored by the Portage Lakes Polar Bear Club will be making its way back to the Portage Lakes State Park this February.

This bone-chilling event has been a part of the winter fun at the Portage Lakes for the past seven years. The jump is scheduled for Feb. 20.

“This year's jump should be just as fun as previous years,” said Heather Pariso, event coordinator.

“We expect a great turnout for this event and it will be for a great cause, so we're really excited,” said  Pariso.

“All proceeds benefit the American Cancer Society so our jumpers are out there braving the cold for a reason.”

This year's jumpers will be at the Boat Launch Ramp at the Portage Lakes State Park located off Manchester Rd.

Pariso says in order to jump, you must register early.

“Swim/jump time is 2 p.m. sharp and be sure to arrive by 12:30 for registration, and to jump, you have to have a $25 minimum donation to register.”

Registration packets are available www.portagelakespolarbearclub.com and for additional information contact Kelly or Heather Pariso at 330-645-0589 or email pariso12-polarbearclub@yahoo.com.
