The Dragon Dream Team, Ohio’s first and only all breast cancer survivor dragon boat team, is having its third annual Breast of Friends fundraiser on Saturday, April 14.  The event, Black White and Pink All Over, is going to be held at St. Joseph’s Family Center, 610 West Exchange Street, Akron.  The evening will include over 250 silent and live auction items including sports packages, vacation getaways and a "Design Your Own Dragon Boat Adventure Party."

In 2007, a group of women from northeast Ohio came together and found that a paddle and a 40-pink dragon boat could be the key to finding new, active life and wellness after breast cancer.  Located at Craftsmen Park in the Portage Lakes, The Dragon Dream Team is one of more than 150 breast cancer survivor dragon boat teams around the world.   The DDT represents all types and ages of survivors from recently diagnosed to long term survivors.  They paddle and race to a finish line where there is no breast cancer, participating in local, national and even international races and festivals. New members are always welcome and absolutely no experience is required.

Dragon Dream Team members have found that the sport and camaraderie of dragon boating is a way to move forward in their lives after breast cancer.  The Breast of Friends fundraiser will help support the team’s mission of sharing its message of hope and support to other breast cancer survivors through a new “Boatloads of Hope” Outreach Program.

Information about the Dragon Dream Team and the April 14 fundraiser is available by calling 330-697-0605, emailing mamalew@neo.rr.com or on www.dragondreamteam.org.  Reservations are required and tickets are still available for $40.
