Students and staff at Turkeyfoot Elementary got a surprise visit Tuesday April 29.
Home from Iraq, Sgt. Glenn Kunkel stopped in to say thank you to the students for sending over school supplies.
“It was difficult to relate to the students over there why I was in their country,” Kunkel said. “The supplies you sent helped me befriend the students there.”
Turkeyfoot students collected pencils, pens, notepads and rulers and sent them to Iraq for the service members to distribute to students in their schools.
Principal Tim Bryan told the kids they had done an excellent job.
“It was a very good start and you all did a wonderful job,” Bryan said.
Kunkel is from Akron.
