The body of a Coventry High School history teacher was found Tuesday by the Summit County Sheriff’s Department.

David McCormick, 50, of Green, was pronounced dead at 4:07 p.m. after sheriff’s deputies responded to a wellness inspection, requested by his parents.

McCormick was well-known in the community and served as the Comets’ football announcer for many years.

Coventry High School Principal Cindy McDonald and guidance office staff will offer grief counseling from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday at the high school.

Some residents may gather at Coventry High School at 10 p.m. Friday at the school, located at 3257 Cormany Road, Akron. Check back for more details as they become available.
