James A Brown was officially approved as the new superintendent for Portage Lakes Career Center at its June 19 meeting.
The board was complimentary to Brown after approving his one-year contract, commending him on the smooth transition from the previous superintendent, Mark Lukins.
The house building project that has been a part of the school for several years will be changed for this upcoming year. Due to the project losing money even after selling the house, the board is looking for an alternative. One possibility is changing the project to building a barn, which board members felt might be more community involved.
New computer equipment for Green High School and Coventry Junior High School from DEPCO, INC was approved for $56,000. The price which was almost half the original bid of $110,000.
The board also approved a sidewalk and curb replacement along with four handicapped ramps with Complete Concrete for $22,870. It is projected to be done before the start of the PLCC school year.
