Every year many of us vow to "make a promise" or "make a resolution" to ourselves--something we want to accomplish and see happen.

A  recent study completed in 2013 by Stanford University  indicated 45 percent of Americans make resolutions, but only 38 percent achieve their resolutions.

The problem with keeping resolutions--there is usually no plan to achieve the  desired  outcomes.   Instead of setting a goal to lose 20 pounds, why not make a weekly plan? It could include your eating and exercise  plan for the  week.

By setting short term goals, you will see progress each week to make your long term goal easier to accomplish.

Interesting enough, according to the Stanford University study;   becoming healthy and  fit, being  organized, saving  more, paying off bills, and spending  more time with family were included as the top resolutions .

Having a life plan for 2014 along with your short term plans will give you  the confidence and security of knowing you have something  in place that ensures you have enough money to last a lifetime, pay less taxes, have your wishes followed and you are protected in case of an unforeseen event.  Taking the time to set up your plan will  take you one step closer to having a secure worry-free future.

FACT: gym membership sign ups and purchase of weight loss supplements are the highest  January.
