During its regular meeting Dec. 16, the Lake Local Schools Board of Education recognized that Lake Local will act as the fiscal agent of the Federal League through Dec. 31, 2016.
LAKE TWP. During its regular meeting Dec. 16, the Lake Local Schools Board of Education recognized that Lake Local will act as the fiscal agent of the Federal League through Dec. 31, 2016. As such, the district is required to sign the contract for the Federal League Commissioner.
Lake Local Superintendent Jeff Wendorf said the fiscal agent is rotated every three years. He said Lake Local last served as the fiscal agent for the Federal League almost 10 years ago, sometime before 2004.
In other business Dec. 16, the board:
- Approved the calendar for the 2014-2015 school year. Wendorf said there may be changes if legislation moves districts from required number of days to required number of hours per school year.
- Heard recognition of outstanding students, teacher of the month, classified employee of the month and volunteer of the month by the Hartville Lion's Club, the Uniontown Lion's Club and the Lake Board of Education. The students recognized were: Marissa Baker and Anthony Maricocchi (third grade); Kayla Satava and Ryan Round (fifth grade); Autumn Schultz and Jaron Smith (eighth grade) and Debbie Neo and Luke Burt (12th grade). Teacher of the month was Brandt Laverick (lake High School), employee of the month was Cynthia Knauer (Uniontown Elementary) and volunteer of the month was Lisa Finefrock (Hartville Elementary).
- Went into Executive Session for the purpose of conferencing with the Board's attorney to discuss matters which are the subject of pending or imminent court action. No action taken.
The next Lake Local Board of Eduction meeting is at 7 p.m. Jan. 13 at Lake Middle School's large group instruction room. The board will have its organizational meeting at this time. A regular meeting will follow at 7:30 p.m.
