Stark State College will offer a 15-week daytime police academy course starting next month, according to a media release from the college.
Classes will run from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Thursday, Saturday and some Sundays beginning Jan. 13. The sessions will provide the training needed to become a peace officer in Ohio as required by the Ohio Peace Officer Training Academy.
The college will host two informational sessions — one at 11 a.m. and one at 4 p.m. — Jan. 6 at the Advanced Technology Center, where potential applicants can get the necessary paperwork. Candidates should not have domestic violence or felony convictions and must be in good physical and mental health, according to the release.
Applications for the program are due Jan. 10.
