A Summit County man in a drunk-driving attempt to run over a Uniontown police officer at a traffic stop.
Tyrone M. Singleton, 49, of Akron, was already on parole when he was arrested at 2:24 a.m. Thursday on Sweitzer Street NW at Virginia Avenue.
The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction records show he was released from prison and placed on parole two weeks shy of a year ago. He was on parole for an aggravated robbery in 2009 and felony drug possession in 2005.
Summit County court records show he also went to prison in 1997 for having weapons under disability and drug trafficking.
Uniontown police say he tried to harm an officer at a traffic stop "by continuing to drive forward at the police officer in an attempt to flee the scene," according to Stark County Jail records.
Police were able to arrest him.
Singleton was jailed on charges of felonious assault, driving while intoxicated, operating a vehicle while impaired, improper backing and driving on the left side of the road.
He remained in the jail early Friday, held in lieu of bond pending a hearing in Canton Municipal Court.
