  • On The Tomorrow People, Ultra is the ultimate enemy. The mysterious organization hunts down those with powers and either eliminates them or takes their powers away - even if they're only children. But the Tomorrow People's biggest enemy might not be as bad as it seems.
"There's an idea that it might've started with better intentions and it might still have those intentions," co-star Aaron Yoo tells TVGuide.com. "Jedikiah [Mark Pellegrino] says all the time that he really believes he's working for the protection of humanity. He's just a person that thinks the ends justify the means."

Yoo likens Ultra's motivations to the present-day debate over the NSA's wiretapping. "If we're wiretapping people to provide for our own security and safety, at what point do we become a police state and become that dystopian vision of the big brother totalitarian regime?" he says. "There's a question of that with Ultra."
Yoo also points out that Ultra's methods have the potential to do some good. "I don't know if Ultra is an evil organization because there are some Tomorrow People who do need to be stopped," he says. "What's amazing about them is that they are a grey area. If they were purely an evil organization, we would be a monster-of-the-week kind of show and it would become a pattern. There is no pattern."

But there are some Tomorrow People's whose minds can't be changed when it comes to Ultra. "From Cara's point of view, they're every evil," co-star Peyton List says. "As we get further into the season, we do expand the Ultra world. It is a massive organization. We've only seen just a glimpse of it. From our point of view, it's not worth trying to understand. If any part of them wants to contain us, then it's not worth crossing paths with them."
