Perry Township Board of Trustees
DEC. 3 MEETING
KEY ACTION Approved a new street-lighting district for the area of 12th Street SW and Sippo Street SW.
The district includes 11 properties and three street lights to be turned on in early 2014. Each property owner is required to pay an annual fee of $32.72 for service.
No residents within the district appeared at Tuesday’s meeting to speak in favor of or against the proposal during a public hearing.
Overall, there are about a dozen lighting districts in the township.
Due to budget constraints, trustees approved a process earlier this year asking residents to voluntarily pay for streetlight service by forming neighborhood lighting districts.
The process is estimated to save the township $26,000 a year in electricity.
OTHER ACTION Agreed to place a 1988 Ford dump truck up for bid on the GovDeals website, www.oh.govdeals.com. GovDeals is a site on which excess government merchandise and unclaimed property can be publicly auctioned.
Trustees are asking $6,000 for the dump truck.
Administrator Joyce Fetzer said 36 items have been sold on the website in 2013, netting the township $62,841.
• Authorized the road department to purchase $243,960 worth of deicing salt to be used in 2014.
