  • Jackson High School graduate James Haupt wasted no time making an impact on the University of Dayton men's soccer team.
Haupt has helped the Flyers to a 14-2-2 record entering tonight's Atlantic 10 tournament, and earned a spot on the league's all-rookie team.
Haupt has scored two goals this season, both game-winners against UMass and Detroit. The goal against Detroit came in the 76th minute and was the lone score of the match, helping the Flyers win the Missouri State tournament. That earned him Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week honors Sept. 16.
The 6-foot-1 Haupt has started Dayton's last three matches, all Flyer wins. This stretch includes the UMass game Nov. 8, when he played a season-high 79 minutes and also delivered his only assist of the season.
Dayton hosts LaSalle at 8 tonight in the opening round of the Atlantic 10 tournament. The Flyers beat the Explorers 3-2 in double overtime on Nov. 3.
