Looking for something to do this weekend? Check out our selections, which include watching the Emmy Awards, celebrating Constitution Day, watching football and more. Do you know of any big local happenings? Please share here!

1. The Primetime Emmy Awards are Sunday. While there are sure to be lots of surprises, there’s one sure thing: Bryan Cranston won’t win Best Actor for the fourth year in a row because his show didn’t start before the Emmy deadline. The broadcast begins at 8 p.m. EDT on Fox.

2. The big new movies this week are “Drive,” an R-rated thriller starring Ryan Gosling, Carey Mulligan and Bryan Cranston; “I Don't Know How She Does It,” a PG-13 film starring Sarah Jessica Parker and Pierce Brosnan; and “Straw Dogs,” R, starring James Marsden and Kate Bosworth.

3. Friday is the observed date of Constitution Day and also is Pledge Across America. Schools likely will be observing the day, but libraries and other institutions may be celebrating as well. Check the newspaper for listings.

4. Saturday is International Eat an Apple Day, so eat an apple in celebration! You can get creative and see what you can bake or cook using apples as well. Have a great recipe that uses apples? Please share!

5. Last but not least, football is back in a big way, and a full slate of games - college and pro - is scheduled for this weekend. And don’t forget that baseball and soccer are still in action as well.
