Green, Ohio —
GateHouse Ohio has named David Hutton editor of The Suburbanite publications in Green and Jackson Township.
The announcement was made this week by Don Detore, the executive editor of GateHouse Ohio.
Hutton also will oversee the Suburbanite’s website, TheSuburbanite.com.
“David brings a wealth of experience as well as outstanding journalism skills to his new position,” Detore said. “He will carry out the Suburbanite’s rich tradition of being a local news source.”
Hutton, 48, a Stark County native and Kent State University graduate, began his career in the newspaper industry in 1995 as a reporter and page designer with The Parkersburg Sentinel in Parkersburg, W. Va.
He returned to Stark County in 1997 when he joined the newsroom at The Independent in Massillon, where he held positions including weekend editor and managing editor.
After a stint as an editor for publications in the real estate and pharmaceutical industries, he returned to the GateHouse Media family when he joined the staff of The Times-Reporter, a sister publication of The Suburbanite located in New Philadelphia.
At The Times-Reporter, he held positions of design editor and local news editor.
He lives in Perry Township with his wife, Arionne. They have three children.
GateHouse Ohio newspapers include The Repository, The Independent in Massillon, The Times-Reporter in Dover-New Philadelphia and The Suburbanite.
