It was difficult for me to understand how front page space could be given to “Dec. 12, 2012: End of the world, or another Y2K scare?” It would imply credibility.
Those who believe that the Bible is the Word of God can find comfort and peace in Matthew 24:36: “But of that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father alone.” So don’t sell the farm.
If the Maya were gifted with prophecy, wouldn’t they still be around today?
Here is my theory regarding the Maya: They had a culture change over time, and their rulers took from the producers and gave to the nonproducers until there was no longer any incentive for the producers to produce, and they quit.
Subsequently they all starved to death.
