WHAT IS IT? The steel frame of a 40,000-square-foot expansion for B-Tek Scales at 1510 Metric Ave. SW, Canton Township. The company is adding manufacturing space to produce its large industrial scales.
HOW LONG HAS IT BEEN GOING ON? Work started earlier this year and should be finished by spring. The company also is building a three-story addition for offices. That work should be finished by the end of the year.
AND ANOTHER THING: B-Tek is affiliated with Brechbuhler Scales, which opened in 1929 and still is owned and operated by the Brechbuhler family. The company launched B-Tek in 1995, and this is the third time the operation has expanded. The two companies have about 200 employees.
