He won in 1993 for “Schindler’s List.” His other Best Picture nominees include “E.T. the Extra–Terrestrial” (1982), “The Color Purple” (1985), “Saving Private Ryan” (1998), “Munich” (2005), “Letters from Iwo Jima” (2006) and “War Horse” (2011).
• Jessica Chastain, who is up for Best Actress for her role in “Zero Dark Thirty,” is the only current nominee who was also nominated for the 2012 Academy Awards. Last year she was in the Supporting Actress category for her work in “The Help.”
• George Clooney has joined a special club that only has one other member – Warren Beatty. The two men are the only people who have had nominations in the Best Picture, Directing, Writing and Acting categories. This year, Clooney is one of the producers of “Argo,” a Best Picture nominee.
