Why do teens kill? A national teen violence expert who has interviewed more than 200 teen killers and school shooters will host a seminar about his findings on May 12.
Phil Chalmers, who has been studying juvenile homicide and juvenile mass murder for 20 years and authored books about the teen killers, will present the history of teen murder, the six types of teen killers and what makes this new wave of killer tick. Participants also will learn about the warning signs, potential causes and triggers of teen violence.
The seminar will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Canton Township Fire Department at 202 49th Street SE.
The deadline to register is May 4. The $30 per person course fee covers the cost of the workbook, lunch and refreshments.
EMS personnel can obtain six continuing education credits for attendance.
