A number of key elected officials will be in Stark County Monday morning as Timken Co. breaks ground for a $225 million expansion at its Faircrest steel plant.
Gov. John R. Kasich and Mark Kvamme, JobsOhio president, will participate in the event at the Canton Township factory, along with Sen. Rob Portman, R-Cincinnati, U.S. Rep. Jim Renacci, R-Medina, and U.S. Rep. Bob Gibbs, R-Lakeville, and company executives.
Timken announced late last year that it wanted to increase its specialty alloy steel production. The company wants to expand its product range and increase capacity to meet demand for specialty alloy steel bars.
The project calls for a new ladle refiner and a large-bloom continuous caster. The new equipment also is expected to increase Faircrest’s capacity by 25 percent and allow production of a broader range of large-diameter bars.
