A failed robbery at a butcher shop landed a shotgun-wielding man in a hospital emergency room Wednesday night when employees and a customer subdued him.

Michael W. Dugan, 41, of 1539 Shorb Ave. NW, was arrested at 5:46 p.m. at Hever’s Family Meats, 3307 Cleveland Ave. NW, on an aggravated robbery charge, Stark County Jail records said.

Jail records said he was carrying a shotgun when he walked into the store, which sells meats and cellphones. He demanded money and ordered the employees to the ground.

The employees and a customer detained Dugan until police arrived, the jail records said.

The records also said Dugan was taken to Aultman Hospital to be treated for injuries he sustained in the robbery. No details of his injuries were listed.

He was later booked into the jail, where he remained Thursday in lieu of $50,000 bond pending a hearing in Canton Municipal Court.
