Songs, lights and Santa are among the highlights of the annual Christmas Sing and Tree Lighting, set for Sunday on the Hoover Company lawn and along East Maple Street.

The Elite Silver Stars will deliver a holiday performance from 4:30 to 5 p.m., followed by the Hoover High School Hi-Notes and Hi-Los. Santa and Mrs. Claus will arrive on a North Canton fire truck at 5:45, and the tree will be lit by Mayor David Held and guests. Santa will stay to visit with children in his special Santa House following the tree lighting.

Complimentary refreshments include hot chocolate from St. Paul’s LifeTeen Group and Bill and Mary’s Diner, coffee from the Washington Square Starbucks and cookies courtesy of the North Canton Chamber and Westfield Bank. Popcorn and hot dogs will be available for purchase from the North Canton Jaycees with the proceeds benefiting the Stark County Hunger Task Force. NCCS TV11 will tape the festivities for later broadcast.

The event is produced by the North Canton Area Chamber of Commerce and the City of North Canton through the sponsorship of Westfield Bank and with the support of Maple Street Commerce.
