Riders catching a SARTA bus near Westfield Belden Village mall soon will have a place to sit while they wait.

Stark County commissioners on Wednesday approved a revocable use permit that allows the Stark Area Regional Transit Authority to relocate a shelter to the bus stop on Belden Village Street NW in Jackson Township.

SARTA Executive Director Kirt Conrad estimated that roughly 100 people a day board the bus at the location, making it one of the agency’s busiest stops.

He said the shelter had been located at Higbee Avenue and Munson Street NW, before the agency built the new Belden Village Transit Center at 4700 Whipple Ave. NW and consolidated the stops.
